Action is defined as the manner or method of performing. On Saturday, November 5, 2016, the Young Women Christian Council (YWCC) took actions literally and figuratively by hosting their Prayer Breakfast, themed, “Let My Actions Speak.” The YWCC is an auxiliary designed for young women between the ages of 18-39 to gather and fellowship through scripture lessons, fun outings, and to converse about life situations. The YWCC is a place where the young women can discuss shared ideas ranging from being single to being a young mother/wife with a growing family. It is an auxiliary where young women can develop their gifts and talents and in turn use them in their local church, district and jurisdiction for the glory of God.
The Prayer Breakfast is an event that allows the young women to work together and gives them the opportunity to show their leadership skills. Dr. Missionary Carolyn Moses from Jordan Grove Church of God In Christ in Dublin, GA was the speaker for this year’s breakfast. She holds the title of Northern Georgia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction YWCC President.
Missionary Moses gave a message entitled “Watch Me” and provided nuggets to encourage everyone-especially the young women. Nuggets included:
Don’t move too fast because there are false prophets around you referencing Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing…”
What fruit are you advertising? According to Matthew 7:16, “ye shall know them by their fruits…”
Don’t neglect your gift. Leaders want you to use your gift; however you have to be patient and willing to learn.
Meditate. That means to practice and practice. You need the word of God in you because the world has a word of its own for you. This nugget referenced the scripture Matthew 7:15.
After Missionary Moses finished her words of encouragement, Missionary Millender provided us with remarks, along with Mother Mays and Missionary James. It was a proud moment for the YWCC when Missionary Millender recognized all of the previous presidents who were all in attendance. To see the torch being passed down and knowing that the majority of the women in Friendly got their start and many their leadership skills from being involved in the YWCC were amazing.
Overall the Prayer Breakfast was a success. The natural body was well fed with grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits, fruit and juice. The spiritual body meanwhile was fed with the Word of God. Mark your calendar now for the next YWCC Prayer Breakfast on November 4, 2017.
