2014 Women’s Department Program

The Annual Women’s Department Workshop and Program was a great success.  This year’s theme was – “Let the Woman of God in You Stand Up”. The scripture for the theme was Esther 4:16 “… I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the King which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish…”

The workshop was held on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Missionary Cora Thornton, Women’s Workshop Coordinator, began the opening at 9:00 AM with Ice Breakers by Sister LaNae Scott and Sister Althea Turner. The workshop presenter was Sister Serena James. Dividing the workshop into two parts, the brunch presented a delightful opportunity for anticipating a door prize and fellowship with the saints.

Sister James’ focus for the workshop was Souljots:  Self Study seminar. This presentation compared the battery life on our mobile devises with a low charge in our own lives. One example for discussion was Soul Jot #26 – “Oftentimes, we wonder why we deal with our issues again and again and again. We deal with the odor and the toxicity and bitterness and hatred and guilt. Could it be that we haven’t properly disposed of these things we seek and need to get rid of? Never place in the recycle bin what should have been dumped in the trash…” If you weren’t there, you missed it. For more Souljots, go to www.Souljots.com.

The Sunday program on August 24, 2014 was a dynamic service. The Women’s Choir rendered music for the service and the processional song was “If I Perish, I Perish. But I am going to see the King.” Each year, a Memoriam Candle Lighting is observed. This year, Sister Lettie Jackson and Sister Andrea Buggs spearheaded this part of the service. The keynote speaker was Pastor Regina Harris of New Life Worship Center, Hephzibah, Georgia.  Pastor Harris conducts workshops, seminars, and symposiums. She believes and knows that God wants us to be whole in every area of our lives. She says that God’s word is the final authority on any matter. .A dynamic singer and speaker, Pastor Harris encouraged the women of the church to continue to stand for God. The service as uplifting and left everyone reflecting and striving for deeper depths in God.
